- Mike Wismer is the Chief of Staff for Protection Technology Los Alamos, the security subcontractor for the Los Alamos National Laboratory.
- In that capacity, he manages company staff; administrative and special project activities for the company. He also formulates and manages PTLA action plans, including the Strategic Plan, Annual Management Plan, and Performance Evaluation Plan. Wismer also directs the records management function for this 600-person organization.
- Wismer is also a Los Alamos County Councilor who serves as an elected official to the seven person governing body of Los Alamos.
- Prior to selection to his current position, Wismer was the Operations Officer for the Performance Assurance Team for PTLA. As team leader, he supervised the performance test function of the uniformed protective force.
- Before working for PTLA, Wismer spent 21 years on active duty with the United States Air Force.
- He initially served as a noncommissioned officer as a missile-warning technician and a radar operator. He later earned his commission and completed his career as a security forces officer and squadron commander.
- His assignments as on officer included postings as shift leaders, operations officers, headquarters staff officer and squadron commander. His last assignment was as the Missile Security Forces Commander for a 330-person unit assigned to protect Intercontinental ballistic missiles in Wyoming, Colorado and Nebraska.

- Wismer’s education includes a Master of Science Degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Eastern Kentucky University, a Master of Public Administration from Troy State University and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Delaware. He is also a graduate of the FBI’s National Academy, 185th Session.
