Cabine Voltaire Interview

mars

The following is a series of mathematical objects set on a background of images from the planet Mars taken by the HIRISE experiment hosted by the University of Arizona in Tucson, AZ.

Launched in August 2005, the High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment (HiRISE) is flying onboard the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) mission. HiRISE investigates deposits and landforms resulting from geologic and climatic processes and assist in the evaluation of candidate landing sites.

The mathematical objects were initially extracted from the Space Curves category of Dr Palais' software 3D-XplorMath. A space curve is a curve of three dimensions in Euclidean space that may pass through any region of three-dimensional space.
